Some projects ask you to design something functional. This one asked for something worth keeping.
As Lead Art Director and Designer for Consumers Energy’s 125th Anniversary event, I designed the invitation that set the tone for the entire celebration. This wasn’t a mailer. It was a piece of print craft, the kind that recipients hold in their hands and feel before they read a single word.
The design balanced the weight of the occasion (125 years is a significant milestone) with warmth and elegance. Typography, print finishing, and layout all worked together to signal that this event was worth showing up for.
Working at Campbell Ewald meant producing creative for some of the most recognizable brands in the country, often under tight timelines. This project is a reminder that even within those constraints, there’s always room to make something genuinely beautiful.
