Some of the best ideas come from a clock ticking down and a team that refuses to think small.
The VICES App was born in a 36-hour hackathon, and it won. As team leader, I guided the concept from idea to presentation, rallying the team around a design that was not just innovative but genuinely meaningful. The kind of idea that makes a room pay attention.
The concept is simple and powerful: a native mobile application that uses geo-location technology and instant connectivity to help people in addiction recovery stay out of bad situations. When you’re working to rebuild your life, your environment matters. VICES puts a layer of awareness and support right in your pocket, helping users navigate the real world with a little more protection around them.
Winning a hackathon isn’t just about having a good idea. It’s about being able to communicate that idea clearly, compellingly, and under pressure. This project tested every part of that skill set, and it delivered.
